SUSTAINABILITY
ALICIA SWIM prides itself in leading the change within the swimwear sector in terms of tackling waste, especially ocean pollution and supply chain offsets, as well as pioneering and popularizing the use of recycled fashion materials.
ALICIA SWIM proudly uses boat cargo instead of air for raw materials in order to minimize and avoid logistics - related emissions, waste and other environmental impacts along our entire supply chain. Our ethos extends not only to the way we transport our products.
Our operations can take longer, which is why we plan well in advance to meet production and delivery deadlines. Sustainability is not an overnight process and we are constantly researching about greener solutions, in order to protect the planet we live in.
OUR FABRICS
ALICIA SWIM is sourcing high-quality Italian recycled fabrics for swimwear made with ECONYL® yarn, a 100% regenerated nylon fiber made from nylon waste otherwise polluting the earth, like fish nets, fabrics scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic rescued from all over the world. Swimsuits also have shape retention technology which ensures durability and comfort.
Now, we are aiming to go one step further. As of 2025, 30% of our swimwear will be produced with innovative biodegradable fabrics, offering the same level of comfort and quality as ALICIA SWIM has been known for.
Our kimonos and headpieces are made from organic cotton using 50% less water in the printing process. Our natural and very durable coconut buckle accessory is hand made by a local artisan from leftover coconut shells, in the spirit of zero waste.
MANUFACTURING
We believe in the creation of an eco-conscious lifestyle. Inspired by nature, we are constantly working to improve all aspects of our supply chain and business in order to be sustainable and produce high quality beautiful products.
Our production is based in Mauritius, Alicia’s birthplace. Supporting local Mauritian craftsmanship is an essential part of our brand identity. Our vision is to create timeless products while embracing the tailoring expertise of local artisans.
We solely work with manufacturers who have the same work ethic and provide their employees with fair pay, professional equipment, and safe and enjoyable work environment. Our Mauritian factory is a great reflection of our own values as a company. We visit them regularly to ensure high standards are always kept.
PACKAGING
Packaging and production is 100% local to Mauritius. We carefully select materials for packaging to maintain a sustainable identity throughout. Each swim piece comes in its own natural cotton pouch, our labels are made from recycled paper and our storage bags are made from recycled plastic.
We never have nor will we ever claim to be 100% sustainable, as we firmly believe there is always space to do better, operate better, produce better. Therefore, we have many goals, but the biggest is to stay true to our vision and hold ourselves accountable, and do the best we can at each step of the way.
All the above are building blocks of our DNA as a brand. With our small community mindset, and Alicia’s international reach, we aim to redefine what it means to feel good in swimwear. We deeply believe that the beachwear, in order to feel good for the user, first must be produced with profound kindness to the environment and the people involved in the process.
